This. Is. Awesome!!!!! The atmosphere here is great, and as other people have said, this art style definitely has great potential!

A lot of more work on the game called Asteroite for the Atari Jaguar, using these tiles + other:

Neat! Don't you think you should find an artist at some point who can do all the visual set. Using maybe my shapes as guidelines and retouch them with his style and create new ones, and the same or another artist to recreate all the characters.

I am working together with one more artist who create the main character, and all the enemies. The tiles and objects is a mix of assets I understand are free to use, and some custom work from another artist. However, this is a hobby project, so I guess I cannot find one artist who are willing to do it all as a hobby.

Yes, don't worry tilesets are free to use. I even like the way you used tiles, just I can't help you with making more. Problem is that if you'll later try to sell the game this won't work out, you need one style everywhere. Try searching for people interested in your project, some artist might pick it up as rev-share project and redo everything for every level.

Yes I understand what you mean, to have a common look for all the art. I am working with one and the same artist on the enemies, but for the tiles I have not been able to find one artist who do it all.

From the old video you posted, I suggest you work also on visual feedback details. Like knockbacks, screenshakes, maybe make it more fast, rather than it being like early Metroid slow paced. From new game standards games tend to be faster. With a bit more flow and some simple story idea. Maybe some new mechanics that could be used for level progression like the roll POWER, just something new you have to get to progress deeper. More level branching leading to some dead ends maybe and some collectables for some sort of reward.

Press release trailer for Asteroite:

Hey! I'm just wondering how old are you and how well you know programming. I'm now looking at your game, seems nice, just people don't dig much into these type games anymore and I doubt it will be successful financially . Currently I could work on another rev-share project with someone if you are interested, it would be  visually better game.

Started to prototype a Metroidvania for the Atari Jaguar using these tiles:

Meant to tell you... I love this tile set; thanks for your help.

Looks pretty good, your style has great potential!
What kind of copyright does it have? (CC0, CC3by,... ?)

No copyrights. Can be used for some projects as placeholder graphics because there's too less tiles to build a full metroidvania game.

Sweet! I will make a video tutorial (gamemaker studio 2) and use your tileset there as decoration.
I will give a link back to your itch.io and mention you directly. Hopefully you get then a little more traffic.
Win win for all :)

It is here, let's see if you get a litte spike in your traffic.

I mean I keep my rights to use and distribute my own free material but you can share, edit, mix and use free graphics in your games as you wish.
